Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving

My favorite thing about Fall is the changing of the leaves colors, sweater weather, and the gathering of families for the holidays! In my opinion, It's also the best season for card making :)

For this month's project, I wanted to focus on the colors of Fall, so browns, oranges, yellows, etc. I began by selecting some orange patterned paper and brown solid cardstock. I cut down the brown CS to 4.5"x5.25" (the size of a standard A2 card) and cut down the patterned paper to 4.5"x1.50" for the left side of my card. When putting some elements together, I felt the brown looked a bit plain, so I grabbed a leaves embossing folder to add something more to the paper. Where the leaves were raised, I used Gold Wink of Stella to add some sparkle. I adhered the orange paper to the embossed panel, and then topped off the background using some burlap ribbon around the area where the two papers met to create a smooth transition from one paper to the next.

When I think of Fall, I think of Owls, so I pulled out my Krazy Kreations Owls Outline Stickers and placed an owl on some Strathmore Bristol Smooth Paper (my favorite for using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers for coloring)! Now, sometimes, I'm unsure of what parts of a critter are which colors, so I will look up on google "cartoon owl" and look at the images to get some ideas of how I'd like to color my critter. It's a bit easier than looking at a real image. I colored in my Owl using 52 Bright Yellow, 70 Orange, 50 Yellow, 64 Oatmeal, 72 Beige, and 65 Mid Brown.

I decided instead of using the coordinating branch from the Owl Outline Sticker, I would use the tree stump outline sticker from the Fox Outline Stickers. It's nice that Krazy Kreations creates their outline stickers so they can be interchangeable with another because it opens up so many more opportunities for card making! I colored the tree stump using 72 Beige, 65 Mid Brown, and 62 Dark Brown.

I fussy cut both the owl and tree stump leaving a white border and used foam squares to pop them up onto the left side of my card. For my sentiment, I used a "Happy Thanksgiving" sentiment in black ink (to help the black outline of the stickers to blend well with the brown colors of the card) and cut the sentiment to 1"x3" and popped that up with foam tape on the right side of the card to balance out my images.

Recently, Krazy Kreations has some out with some NEW Jellies to use as accents on projects. They're similar to the ones they include with card kits, but they are a set of 12 different colors! I selected the bright orange Jellies to add some accents around my sentiment and loved the finished look (although the pictures don't really do them justice)!

Lastly, I finished off the card by taking one string from the same burlap ribbon I used on the card, tied it into a bow, and put it on the top right corner of the sentiment as another accent.
