Hello Fall
Posted by Pam Watson on 22nd Sep 2017
For this card, I chose Krazy Kreations' Leaf Pattern Microfine Glitter Paper as my background. I absolutely LOVE the color combination and how it still has that Fall theme with adding green, purple, and blue colors. I decided to focus on the purple, orange and yellow colors for my card. I wanted to make sure that I didn't completely cover this paper as it has this nice glittery finish that just sparkles in the light!
Funny story... I haven't crafted in about a month or so because I've been so busy with packing and finally moving to New Jersey! I'm absolutely LOVING it here :) Because of that, though, when I began trimming my paper I was COMPLETELY off with my measurements.
However, as all crafters do, I improvised and worked with what I had. I cut down the Glitter Paper to 5.25" x 3.75" instead of 5.25" x 4". I then cut down some Stampin' Up! purple paper to 5.5" x 4". This left a slight border on the top and bottom of the card which I did not mind.
I then cut some Close To My Heart Creme Brûlée Card stock Paper to 5" x 1.5" and Stampin' Up!'s Tangerine Tango Card stock paper to 3.5" x 2.5". I adhered all these papers to a card base I created with Neenah Solar White 110lb Card stock.
From my stash of Krazy Kreations outline stickers, I selected the Fox Outline Stickers to pair with the Fall theme of my card. Also, with foxes having an orange-ish color, it would go perfectly with the colors I chose to emphasize. I applied the smaller fox to some Neenah Smooth Solar White paper and applied the fox sticker to the paper. I decided I would use some Copic markers to color in my fox.
For the orange parts of the body, I used YR15 Pumpkin Yellow and YR68 Orange. You can see, in the picture below, the scrap paper I used to test out some colors before making a final decision. I'm still new at using Copic markers and this seems to help a lot! For the brown parts of the body, I used E57 Light Walnut and E59 Walnut. Lastly, I used N0 Neutral Gray to add a bit of shadow to the white parts of the fox.
After coloring the fox, I got the idea to add some sparkle to him. I had some Glitter Ritz Bronze Glitter available from Krazy Kreations (and the same glitter we use for our Glitter Papers!). To add some sparkle to my fox, I used the Sakura Quickie Glue Roller Pen to fill in the brown parts with glue - the outline helped keep the glue in the brown areas and not seep through to other areas. I then used a small round brush to grab some glitter and dab it onto the wet glue. It dried clear and left this beautiful bronze finish to the fox. Lastly, I adhered the fox using some foam squares to give some dimension to my card.
I finished off the card with some leaf stickers that were a part of the Fox Outline Sticker set. I also wanted to make this a hello/thinking about you-themed card, so I used the Hello Sentiment Sticker to the card. I love this script and how a word so simple can make a big impact on a card like this - it really paired well with it. With a few small purple rhinestones added to the centers of the leaf collections, my card was finished and ready to send back to MD just to let them know I'm thinking about them all the way from NJ!
Thanks for stopping by! Happy crafting :)
